This element is a Heart-Shaped Abalone Shell Crystal Element

An Abalone is a type of mollusk that has a thick shell—the shell is what makes this crystal. It is believed that Abalone Shell has soothing and grounding properties. Many have used this crystal when they’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed to calm down and regain some emotional stability. Abalone Shell is also believed to help promote feelings of peace—this Mother of Pearl is aligned with the sacral chakra, which is believed to control our feelings of self-worth.

Abalone Shell is a rainbow iridescent color. These crystals are cut flat, similar to our hexbar crystals.

LOVE, but...

I ordered three elements: moss agate, moonstone, and abalone shell (heart). I was most excited about the moss agate because I'd been looking everywhere for one that looked good (and it did), but the abalone shell surprised me and wound up not only being my favorite but I've gotten so many compliments on it. It's not open-backed like the crystals and the raised edge of how it's set within the metal backing of the heart, sometimes felt like it could just peel off. As much as I LOVE this element, I did notice that after several weeks of wear, the shine was gone and the surface of the spinner started feeling rough, with some parts feeling like they could scratch away. Being that I've not even had this for over a month, I rectified it by putting a coat of clear nail polish over the top. Probably a big 'no-no' as far as longevity and wear, it doesn't look as it did when it arrived, but it looks better than it did before the clear coat because it started getting very drab. It's still incredibly beautiful and I still love it, but I don't know how long it will last and I wish this one was more hearty like the other crystal elements that stand up to everything.

Not double-sided

Bought for my sister as a birthday gift with the necklace. It is not double-sided and is top heavy so it hangs up -side-down and doesn't show the shell side. Probably best not to buy if it will be on a necklace instead of a ring.
